Carrot and Turnip Price in Turkey (FOB) - 2023
The average carrot and turnip export price stood at $284 per ton in July 2023, dropping by -37.4% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, posted modest growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in April 2023 an increase of 73% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $533 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to July 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Ukraine ($390 per ton), while the average price for exports to Georgia ($61.0 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Iraq (+11.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Carrot and Turnip Price in Turkey (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average carrot and turnip import price amounted to $199 per ton, shrinking by -44.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a noticeable downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average import price increased by 71% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $806 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($278 per ton), while the price for Cyprus stood at $197 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Jordan (+3.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Carrot and Turnip Exports in Turkey
After three years of growth, overseas shipments of carrots and turnips decreased by -11.1% to 93K tons in 2022. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.1% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 22% against the previous year.
In value terms, carrot and turnip exports fell to $19M in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated a resilient expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +12.4% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +41.8% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 30% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $21M, and then declined in the following year.

Carrot and Turnip Imports in Turkey
