Global carrot and turnip imports amounted to 2,469 thousand tonnes in 2015, going up by +4.1% against the previous year level. Overall, the global carrot and turnip imports indicated a pronounced growth from 2007 to 2015. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.4% over the last eight years.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2010, when the output figure increased by +10% from the previous year level. Over the period under review, the global carrot and turnip imports attained its maximum volume of 2,512 thousand tonnes in 2013. From 2014 to 2015, the total carrot and turnip imports growth failed to regain its strength.

In value terms, global carrot and turnip imports amounted to $1,262 million in 2015. Overall, the value of global carrot and turnip imports increased robustly from 2007 to 2015, expanding at an average annual rate of +5.1%. This trend pattern, however, indicated relatively mild fluctuations throughout the analyzed period.

The countries with the highest levels of the carrot and turnip imports in 2015 were Germany (265 thousand tonnes), Belgium (242 thousand tonnes), the United States (196 thousand tonnes), together accounting for 28% of total imports.

From 2007 to 2015, the most notable growth rates of carrot and turnip imports among the main importing countries was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+10.0% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany (149 million USD), Canada (113 million USD) and the United States (99 million USD) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2015, together accounting for 29% of total imports.

the United Arab Emirates (+13.6% per year) had the highest growth rates of carrot and turnip imports among the main importing countries over the last eight years, while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
