In August 2023, the average carrot and turnip import price amounted to $727 per ton, growing by 13% against the previous month. Over the period from August 2022 to August 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.5%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in July 2023 an increase of 18% month-to-month. The import price peaked in August 2023.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Guatemala ($2,697 per ton), while the price for Mexico ($593 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mexico (+1.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average carrot and turnip export price stood at $1,842 per ton in August 2023, rising by 31% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.3%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Canada ($1,858 per ton), while the average price for exports to Mexico amounted to $1,118 per ton.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Canada (+1.1%).

Carrot and turnip imports into the United States totaled 274K tons in 2022, with an increase of 14% compared with the previous year's figure. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.1% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period.
