Carrot and Turnip Price in the Czech Republic (CIF) - 2023

The average carrot and turnip import price stood at $1,152 per ton in June 2023, reducing by -1.9% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 an increase of 32% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $1,174 per ton in May 2023, and then contracted slightly in the following month.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Poland ($1,584 per ton), while the price for Greece ($741 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Denmark (+20.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Carrot and Turnip Price in the Czech Republic (FOB) - 2023

The average carrot and turnip export price stood at $1,525 per ton in June 2023, picking up by 11% against the previous month. Overall, the export price recorded buoyant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in December 2022 when the average export price increased by 92% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs in June 2023.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Hungary ($2,648 per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy ($1,212 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+20.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Carrot and Turnip Imports in the Czech Republic

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of carrots and turnips, when their volume decreased by -15.1% to 41K tons. In general, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 8.6% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 48K tons, and then reduced rapidly in the following year.

In value terms, carrot and turnip imports reduced remarkably to $15M in 2022. Overall, imports recorded a abrupt downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 21%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $22M, and then dropped significantly in the following year.

Carrot and Turnip Exports in the Czech Republic

In 2022, shipments abroad of carrots and turnips was finally on the rise to reach 5K tons after two years of decline. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a perceptible descent.

In value terms, carrot and turnip exports reduced to $2.6M in 2022. In general, exports, however, showed a abrupt shrinkage. The smallest decline of -7.2% was in 2020.
