Cabbage Price in Singapore (CIF) - 2022
The average cabbage import price stood at $921 per ton in September 2022, declining by -6% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.2%. The growth pace was the most rapid in January 2022 when the average import price increased by 33% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $1,107 per ton. From February 2022 to September 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($1,005 per ton), while the price for Indonesia ($605 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2021 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malaysia (+3.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Cabbage Price in Singapore (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average cabbage export price amounted to $578 per ton, with a decrease of -33.7% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the average export price increased by 40% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $872 per ton in 2021, and then declined dramatically in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Brunei Darussalam ($827 per ton), while the average price for exports to Indonesia ($482 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Indonesia (+3.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Cabbage Imports in Singapore
In 2022, overseas purchases of cabbage and other brassicas decreased by -3.5% to 61K tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Over the period under review, imports saw a mild slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 3.4%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 67K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, cabbage imports reduced to $43M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +4.9% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 15% against the previous year.
