Biological Product Price in the Netherlands (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average biological product export price amounted to $833,768 per ton, increasing by 9.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a pronounced slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 62%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $1,265,483 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($1,700,432 per ton), while the average price for exports to Spain ($277,167 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+16.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average biological product import price stood at $527,245 per ton in 2022, increasing by 7.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price posted a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 92%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $1,075,538 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($1,886,670 per ton), while the price for Switzerland ($162,707 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+15.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Biological Product Exports in the Netherlands
In 2022, shipments abroad of biological products decreased by -37.7% to 18K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 179%.
In value terms, biological product exports contracted sharply to $14.9B in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 220% against the previous year.
