Antisera Imports By Country

Mozambique (1.2M tonnes) dominates in antisera imports structure, accounting for 1.2M tonnes, which was near 81% of total imports in 2016. The following importers - Myanmar (31K tonnes), and Germany (22K tonnes) occupied near 4% of total imports, each. France, Austria, Colombia, and the UK countries took the negligible share of total imports.

Mozambique was also the fastest growing in terms of the antisera imports, with a CAGR of +202.6% from 2007 to 2016. At the same time, France (+13.3%), Germany (+11.2%), Austria (+6.7%), and Colombia (+4.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Myanmar experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, the UK (-5.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Mozambique (-80.9%) significantly weakened its position in terms of the global imports, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest antisera markets worldwide were Germany ($19B), the UK ($10B) and France ($5.1B), with a combined 26% share of global imports. These countries were followed by Austria, Colombia, Mozambique and Myanmar, which together accounted for a further 2%.

Mozambique (+27.1% per year) experienced the highest rates of growth with regard to the antisera imports, in terms of the main importing countries, over the last 9 year period, while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Antisera Import Prices By Country

In 2016, the average import price for antisera amounted to $92 per kg, shrinking by -81.4% against the previous year. In general, antisera import price continues to indicate a deep shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2011, an increase of 30% y-o-y. Over the period under review, average antisera import price reached its maximum level of $495 per kg in 2015, falling back in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average import prices amongst major importing countries. In 2016, the country with the highest import prices was the UK ($851 per kg), while Mozambique ($18 per tonne) was among the lowest.

From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of antisera import prices was attained by Colombia (+6.0% per year), while the other global leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
