Aniline Price in the United States (CIF) - 2022
The average aniline import price stood at $1,985 per ton in 2022, rising by 39% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated mild growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, aniline import price increased by +97.3% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 42%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $2,023 per ton in 2014; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from Portugal ($2,318 per ton) and Germany ($2,318 per ton), while the price for Belgium ($1,816 per ton) and the Netherlands ($2,007 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+8.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average aniline export price stood at $1,594 per ton in 2022, with an increase of 3.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the average export price increased by 26%. The export price peaked at $1,819 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($3,395 per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy ($1,469 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+11.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Aniline Imports in the United States
In 2022, imports of aniline and its salts (excluding derivatives) into the United States declined significantly to 43K tons, which is down by -34.9% against 2021 figures. In general, imports recorded a pronounced setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 132%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 65K tons, and then dropped remarkably in the following year.
In value terms, aniline imports dropped to $84M in 2022. Overall, imports, however, posted resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 229% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $93M, and then dropped in the following year.
