The countries with the highest levels of wadding of textile imports in 2016 were France (25K tonnes), Russia (21K tonnes), Germany (19K tonnes), the U.S. (18K tonnes), Japan (14K tonnes), the UK (12K tonnes), China (12K tonnes), Canada (8.3K tonnes), Poland (7.6K tonnes), Spain (7.2K tonnes), Romania (6.6K tonnes), and Kazakhstan (6.4K tonnes), together recording 53% of total import.

From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of wadding of textile imports, among the main importing countries, was attained by Kazakhstan (+8.5% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Russia ($140M), France ($125M) and the U.S. ($119M) appeared as the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2016, with a combined 19% share of global imports.Germany, China, Japan, the UK, Poland, Romania, Canada, Spain and Kazakhstan lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 31%.

Poland (+5.3% per year) experienced the highest growth rate of wadding of textile imports, in terms of the main importing countries, over the last 9 year period, while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Wadding Of Textile Import Prices By Country

The average wadding of textile import price stood at $6,696 per tonne in 2016, rising by 6% against the previous year. Over the period from 2007 to 2016 it increased at an average annual rate of +1.9%.The growth pace was the most rapid in 2008, when import price increased by 9% y-o-y. Global wadding of textile import peaked of $7,242 per tonne in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2016, it failed to regain its strength.

There were significant differences in the average import prices amongst major importing countries. In 2016, the country with the highest import prices was Poland ($10 per kg), while Kazakhstan ($2,363 per tonne) was among the lowest.
