In 2016, the global forklift truck exports amounted to 2.8M tonnes, moving up by 5% against the previous year level. Overall, forklift truck exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2011, when it surged by 37% year-to-year. Global forklift truck export peaked of 2.8M tonnes in 2007; afterwards, it flattened through to 2016.

In value terms, forklift truck exports stood at $16B in 2016. In general, forklift truck exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, global forklift truck exports reached its maximum level of $18B in 2008; however, from 2009 to 2016, it failed to regain its strength.

Forklift Truck Exports By Country

In 2016, Germany (441K tonnes), the U.S. (343K tonnes), China (332K tonnes), Japan (297K tonnes), the Netherlands (220K tonnes), the UK (169K tonnes), Italy (166K tonnes), France (160K tonnes), Sweden (126K tonnes), Canada (101K tonnes), South Korea (97K tonnes), and Belgium (79K tonnes) represented the key exporters of forklift truck in the world, making up 91% of total export.

From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of forklift truck exports, among the main exporting countries, was attained by China (+9.1% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest forklift truck markets worldwide were Germany ($3B), the U.S. ($2B) and China ($2B), together comprising 45% of global exports.

China (+10.6% per year) recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the forklift truck exports, in terms of the main exporting countries, over the last 9 year period, while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Forklift Truck Export Prices By Country

The average forklift truck export price stood at $5,636 per tonne in 2016, reducing by -3.7% against the previous year. In general, forklift truck export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2008, when export increased by 10% year-to-year. In that year, average forklift truck export price attained its maximum level of $6,307 per tonne. From 2009 to 2016, growth of average forklift truck export price failed to regain its strength.

There were significant differences in the average export prices amongst major exporting countries. In 2016, the country with the highest export prices was Sweden ($7,942 per tonne), while Japan ($2,940 per tonne) was among the lowest.

From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of forklift truck export prices was attained by France (+2.1% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
