Global cucumber and gherkin exports amounted to 2,509 thousand tonnes in 2015, lowering by -3.9% against the previous year level. Overall, the global cucumber and gherkin exports indicated a pronounced growth from 2007 to 2015. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the last eight years.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2008, when the output figure increased by +20% from the previous year level. Over the period under review, the global cucumber and gherkin exports attained its maximum volume of 2,611 thousand tonnes in 2014, falling back in the following year.

In value terms, global exports amounted to $2,170 million in 2015. Overall, the value of global exports increased tangibly from 2007 to 2015, expanding at an average annual rate of +2.0%. This trend pattern, however, indicated relatively mild fluctuations throughout the analyzed period.

Cucumber And Gherkin Imports By Country

The countries with the highest levels of the cucumber and gherkin exports in 2015 were Mexico (655 thousand tonnes), Spain (625 thousand tonnes), the Netherlands (439 thousand tonnes), together accounting for 69% of total exports.

From 2007 to 2015, the most notable growth rates of cucumber and gherkin exports among the main exporting countries was attained by Mexico (+6.0% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Spain (528 million USD), the Netherlands (499 million USD) and Mexico (437 million USD) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2015, together accounting for 67% of total exports.

Canada (+9.0% per year) had the highest growth rates of cucumber and gherkin exports among the main exporting countries over the last eight years, while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
