Which Country Exports the Most Coconut Oil in the World?

Global coconut oil exports amounted to 2,209 thousand tonnes in 2015, flattening at the previous year level. Overall, the global coconut oil exports indicated a pronounced growth from 2007 to 2015. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% over the last eight years.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2010, when the output figure increased by +33% from the previous year level. In that year, the global coconut oil exports attained its maximum volume of 2,368 thousand tonnes. From 2011 to 2015, the total coconut oil exports growth failed to regain its strength.

In value terms, global exports amounted to $2,843 million in 2015. Overall, the value of global exports increased tangibly from 2007 to 2015, expanding at an average annual rate of +6.9%. This trend pattern, however, indicated relatively mild fluctuations throughout the analyzed period.

Coconut Oil Imports By Country

The countries with the highest levels of the coconut oil exports in 2015 were the Philippines (895 thousand tonnes), Indonesia (759 thousand tonnes), the Netherlands (233 thousand tonnes), together accounting for 85% of total exports.

From 2007 to 2015, the most notable growth rates of coconut oil exports among the main exporting countries was attained by the Netherlands (+8.8% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the Philippines (1,121 million USD), Indonesia (812 million USD) and the Netherlands (288 million USD) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2015, together accounting for 78% of total exports.

Sri Lanka (+69.6% per year) had the highest growth rates of coconut oil exports among the main exporting countries over the last eight years, while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
