Crude Coconut Oil Market Size in the UK

In 2020, the UK crude coconut oil market was finally on the rise to reach $X for the first time since 2015, thus ending a four-year declining trend. Over the period under review, consumption showed a tangible increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2012 with an increase of X% year-to-year. In value terms, crude coconut oil exports soared to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a pronounced slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2011 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Exports peaked at $X in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2020, exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Ireland (X tonnes), the Netherlands (X tonnes) and Germany (X tonnes) were the main destinations of crude coconut oil exports from the UK, together comprising X% of total exports. These countries were followed by France, Bahrain, Spain, Poland, Serbia, Portugal, the U.S., Saudi Arabia, the Czech Republic and Malta, which together accounted for a further X 2007 to 2020, the biggest increases were in Saudi Arabia (+X% per year), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Ireland ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and France ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for crude coconut oil exported from the UK worldwide, together comprising X% of total exports. Germany, Poland, Spain, Serbia, the U.S., Bahrain, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, the Czech Republic and Malta lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X terms of the main countries of destination, Saudi Arabia (+X% per year) saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2020, the average crude coconut oil export price amounted to $X per tonne, which is down by -X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010 an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average export prices attained the peak figure at $X per tonne in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2020, export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination; the country with the highest price was the U.S. ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the U.S., while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2020, after three years of decline, there was significant growth in supplies from abroad of crude coconut (copra) oil, when their volume increased by X% to X tonnes. In general, imports, however, recorded a noticeable curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2012 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Imports peaked at X tonnes in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2020, imports failed to regain the momentum.

In value terms, crude coconut oil imports rose markedly to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a moderate expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2020, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Slovenia and Germany lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X 2007 to 2020, the biggest increases were in Slovenia (+X% per year), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest crude coconut oil suppliers to the UK were the Philippines ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and Sri Lanka ($X), together accounting for X% of total imports. The import price peaked at $X per tonne in 2019, and then contracted in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2020, the country with the highest price was Slovenia ($X per tonne), while the price for the Netherlands ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.
