Asbestos Market Size

In 2019, the global asbestos market increased by X% to $X for the first time since 2014, thus ending a four-year declining trend. Over the period under review, consumption recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2011 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Production By Country

Russia (X tonnes) constituted the country with the largest volume of asbestos production, accounting for X% of total volume. Moreover, asbestos production in Russia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest producer, Kazakhstan (X tonnes), threefold.

From 2007 to 2019, the average annual growth rate of volume in Russia was relatively modest. The remaining producing countries recorded the following average annual rates of production growth: Kazakhstan (+X% per year) and Brazil (+X% per year).

In 2019, overseas shipments of asbestos increased by X% to X tonnes, rising for the second year in a row after five years of decline. In general, exports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2008 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Global exports peaked at X tonnes in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2019, exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, asbestos exports expanded slightly to $X in 2019. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a tangible expansion from 2007 to 2019: its value increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last twelve years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2019 figures, exports increased by +X% against 2017 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2012 with an increase of X% year-to-year. As a result, exports attained the peak of $X. From 2013 to 2019, the growth of global exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

In 2019, Russia (X tonnes) represented the major exporter of asbestos, generating X% of total exports. Kazakhstan (X tonnes) occupied a X% share (based on tonnes) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Brazil (X%). China (X tonnes) took a relatively small share of total exports.

Russia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of asbestos. At the same time, China (+X%) and Kazakhstan (+X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, China emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +X% from 2007-2019. By contrast, Brazil (-X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2009 an increase of X% against the previous year. Global export price peaked at $X per tonne in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2019, export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin; the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per tonne), while Kazakhstan ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2009 to 2019, the growth of global imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2019, India (X tonnes) represented the main importer of asbestos, making up X% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Indonesia (X tonnes), China (X tonnes) and Uzbekistan (X tonnes), together generating a X% share of total imports. Sri Lanka (X tonnes), Thailand (X tonnes), Viet Nam (X tonnes), Iran (X tonnes) and Bangladesh (X tonnes) took a little share of total imports.

Imports into India increased at an average annual rate of +X% from 2007 to 2019. At the same time, Bangladesh (+X%) and Indonesia (+X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Bangladesh emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the world, with a CAGR of +X% from 2007-2019. Uzbekistan experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Sri Lanka (-X%), China (-X%), Iran (-X%), Thailand (-X%) and Viet Nam (-X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period.
