Over the period under review, consumption, however, recorded a dramatic setback. As a result, consumption reached the peak level of $X. From 2017 to 2022, production growth failed to regain momentum.
The countries with the highest volumes of production in 2022 were Guinea-Bissau (X tons), Mali (X tons) and Nigeria (X tons), together comprising X% of total production. Liberia, Burkina Faso and Mauritania lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Mauritania (with a CAGR of X%), while production for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Exports in Western Africa
In 2022, overseas shipments of berries increased by X% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. In general, exports, however, recorded a pronounced shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by X%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2017 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, berry exports fell significantly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2017 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Mauritania represented the major exporting country with an export of about X tons, which finished at X% of total exports. Benin (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a X% share, followed by Togo (X%) and Cote d'Ivoire (X%). Ghana (X tons) took a minor share of total exports.
Mauritania was also the fastest-growing in terms of the berries exports, with a CAGR of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Togo (X%), Benin (X%) and Cote d'Ivoire (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Ghana (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Mauritania (X p.p.), Benin (X p.p.), Togo (X p.p.) and Cote d'Ivoire (X p.p.) increased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Mauritania ($X) remains the largest berry supplier in Western Africa, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Ghana ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Togo, with a X% share.
In Mauritania, berry exports expanded at an average annual rate of X% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Ghana (X% per year) and Togo (X% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in Western Africa amounted to $X per ton, which is down by X% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a prominent increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 an increase of X%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, berry imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. In general, imports continue to indicate a buoyant increase. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
Nigeria represented the key importing country with an import of around X tons, which amounted to X% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Cote d'Ivoire (X tons), making up a X% share of total imports. Cabo Verde (X tons) and Mauritania (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
