The average maize export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 48% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a mild shrinkage. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major foreign markets. In 2021, the highest price was recorded for prices to Mexico ($X per ton) and Japan ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Canada ($X per ton) and Colombia ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Japan (-0.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Maize imports into the United States fell to X tons in 2021, waning by -6.5% on the year before. In general, imports showed a abrupt slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 74%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, maize imports amounted to $X in 2021. Overall, imports recorded a abrupt slump. In value terms, the largest maize suppliers to the United States were Canada ($X), Argentina ($X) and Chile ($X), with a combined 81% share of total imports.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Chile ($X per ton), while the price for Brazil ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
