Potato Market Size in the UK

The UK potato market declined modestly to $X in 2019, dropping by -X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption showed a pronounced descent. In 2018, France (X tonnes), distantly followed by Germany (X tonnes), the Netherlands (X tonnes), Belgium (X tonnes) and Pakistan (X tonnes) represented the key exporters of potatoes, together achieving X% of total exports. Canada (X tonnes), Egypt (X tonnes), the U.S. (X tonnes), China (X tonnes), Spain (X tonnes), India (X tonnes) and Saudi Arabia (X tonnes) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by Saudi Arabia, while exports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2018, the potato export price in the UK amounted to $X per tonne, with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a slight shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2012 when the export price increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, export price reached the peak level of $X per tonne. From 2013 to 2018, the growth in terms of the export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
