Polyethylene Market Size in Turkey

Italy (X tonnes) was the main destination for polyethylene exports from Turkey, with a X% share of total exports. Moreover, polyethylene exports to Italy exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Slovenia (X tonnes), sixfold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by Portugal (X tonnes), with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2018, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Italy amounted to +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Slovenia (+X% per year) and Portugal (+X% per year).

In value terms, Italy ($X) remains the key foreign market for polyethylene exports from Turkey, comprising X% of total polyethylene exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Slovenia ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Portugal, with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2018, the average annual growth rate of value to Italy stood at +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Slovenia (+X% per year) and Portugal (+X% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2018, the average polyethylene export price amounted to $X per tonne, lowering by -X% against the previous year. Overall, the polyethylene export price continues to indicate a measured downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010 when the average export price increased by X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, the average export prices for polyethylene reached their peak figure at $X per tonne in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2018, export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination; the country with the highest price was Greece ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to China ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Greece, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Turkey

In 2018, the imports of polyethylene into Turkey amounted to X tonnes, growing by X% against the previous year. Overall, polyethylene imports continue to indicate a strong expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2009 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, polyethylene imports reached their peak figure in 2018 and are expected to retain its growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, polyethylene imports amounted to $X in 2018. In general, polyethylene imports continue to indicate prominent growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2010 when imports increased by X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, polyethylene imports reached their maximum at $X in 2017, and then declined slightly in the following year.

Imports by Country

Saudi Arabia (X tonnes), Iran (X tonnes) and Qatar (X tonnes) were the main suppliers of polyethylene imports to Turkey, together accounting for X% of total imports. These countries were followed by Azerbaijan, Spain, Belgium, Singapore, Germany, South Korea, the Netherlands, Libya and Sweden, which together accounted for a further X 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of imports, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Singapore (+X% per year), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
