The global polyethylene market dropped modestly to $X in 2020, falling by -X% against the previous year. These countries were followed by India, Singapore, Iran, Brazil, Japan, Thailand, Mexico, France, Canada and South Korea, which together accounted for a further X 2007 to 2020, the biggest increases were in Singapore, while polyethylene production for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the period from 2007 to 2020; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Global exports peaked at X tonnes in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2020, exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, polyethylene exports reduced markedly to $X in 2020. Overall, exports, however, showed a mild setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, global exports reached the maximum at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2020, exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Saudi Arabia (X tonnes) and the U.S. (X tonnes) were the largest exporters of polyethylene with a specific gravity of less than X, in primary forms in 2020, accounting for near X% and X% of total exports, respectively. It was distantly followed by Belgium (X tonnes), Singapore (X tonnes) and the Netherlands (X tonnes), together comprising an X% share of total exports. Germany (X tonnes), Iran (X tonnes), Thailand (X tonnes), Malaysia (X tonnes), South Korea (X tonnes), the United Arab Emirates (X tonnes), France (X tonnes) and Spain (X tonnes) occupied a little share of total exports.

From 2007 to 2020, the biggest increases were in the United Arab Emirates, while shipments for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest polyethylene supplying countries worldwide were Saudi Arabia ($X), the U.S. ($X) and Belgium ($X), together accounting for X% of global exports. Global export price peaked at $X per tonne in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2020, export prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major exporting countries. In 2020, major exporting countries recorded the following prices: in Germany ($X per tonne) and the Netherlands ($X per tonne), while Malaysia ($X per tonne) and Spain ($X per tonne) were amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Singapore, while the other global leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +X% from 2007 to 2020; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, global imports reached the peak figure at X tonnes in 2019, and then fell in the following year.

In value terms, polyethylene imports contracted significantly to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. China was also the fastest-growing in terms of the polyethylene with a specific gravity of less than X, in primary forms imports, with a CAGR of +X% from 2007 to 2020.
