Over the period under review, consumption, however, recorded strong growth. Aluminium window and door consumption peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, consumption failed to regain momentum.

Over the period under review, the total production indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.3% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, production increased by +5.6% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 41% against the previous year. Aluminium window and door production peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, production remained at a lower figure.

Exports from Turkey

For the fourth year in a row, Turkey recorded growth in overseas shipments of aluminium doors, thresholds for doors and windows, which increased by 22% to X tons in 2021. In general, exports posted prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 62% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

In value terms, aluminium window and door exports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, exports recorded strong growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 42%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.

Exports by Country

Germany (X tons) was the main destination for aluminium window and door exports from Turkey, accounting for a 23% share of total exports. Moreover, aluminium window and door exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, France (X tons), fourfold. The UK (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 5% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Germany stood at +14.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: France (+15.5% per year) and the UK (+8.8% per year).

In value terms, Germany ($X), Romania ($X) and France ($X) constituted the largest markets for aluminium window and door exported from Turkey worldwide, together comprising 32% of total exports. These countries were followed by the United States, Iraq, the UK, Switzerland, Sweden, Israel, Libya, Azerbaijan, the Netherlands and Austria, which together accounted for a further 35%.

In terms of the main countries of destination, the United States, with a CAGR of +168.0%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The average aluminium window and door export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 1.8% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a mild contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 13%. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Romania ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Sweden ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Romania (+11.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Turkey

In 2021, supplies from abroad of aluminium doors, thresholds for doors and windows increased by 12% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a noticeable slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 73% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, aluminium window and door imports rose markedly to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, recorded a perceptible curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 38% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

The United States (X tons), Poland (X tons) and China (X tons) were the main suppliers of aluminium window and door imports to Turkey, together accounting for 59% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by the United States (with a CAGR of +27.4%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest aluminium window and door suppliers to Turkey were the United States ($X), Germany ($X) and Poland ($X), with a combined 59% share of total imports.

Among the main suppliers, Poland, with a CAGR of +27.3%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average aluminium window and door import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, almost unchanged from the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the average import price increased by 34%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2020 to 2021, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Spain ($X per ton), while the price for Israel ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
