Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, albumins and albuminates exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports posted a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 55,580%. The exports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

The Philippines (X tons) was the main destination for albumins and albuminates exports from Thailand, with a 51% share of total exports. Moreover, albumins and albuminates exports to the Philippines exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Sri Lanka (X tons), twofold. Myanmar (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 17% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to the Philippines stood at -10.5%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Sri Lanka (+66.7% per year) and Myanmar (+22.3% per year).

In value terms, the Philippines ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for albumins and albuminates exports from Thailand, comprising 55% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Sri Lanka ($X), with a 23% share of total exports. It was followed by Myanmar, with an 18% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to the Philippines stood at -3.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Sri Lanka (+16.7% per year) and Myanmar (+33.0% per year).

The average albumins and albuminates export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 113% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a perceptible expansion. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Myanmar ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Somalia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Myanmar (+8.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into Thailand

In 2021, overseas purchases of albumins, albuminates and other derivatives (excluding egg albumin) decreased by -6.3% to X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year rising trend. In general, imports, however, posted a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 333% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons, and then dropped in the following year.

In value terms, albumins and albuminates imports dropped slightly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 163%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then fell modestly in the following year.

In 2021, the United States (X tons) constituted the largest albumins and albuminates supplier to Thailand, with a 88% share of total imports. Moreover, albumins and albuminates imports from the United States exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, New Zealand (X tons), more than tenfold.
