Exports in South-Eastern Asia
In 2022, shipments abroad of guts, bladders and stomachs of animals decreased by -10.6% to X tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a strong increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when exports increased by 139% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, animal guts exports rose remarkably to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by 257%. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
Thailand dominates exports structure, accounting for X tons, which was near 96% of total exports in 2022. Singapore (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Thailand was also the fastest-growing in terms of the guts, bladders and stomachs of animals exports, with a CAGR of +27.6% from 2012 to 2022. Singapore (-6.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Thailand increased by +45 percentage points.
In value terms, Thailand ($X) remains the largest animal guts supplier in South-Eastern Asia, comprising 97% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Singapore ($X), with a 2.5% share of total exports.
In Thailand, animal guts exports increased at an average annual rate of +34.3% over the period from 2012-2022.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in South-Eastern Asia stood at $X per ton in 2022, increasing by 19% against the previous year. Export price indicated slight growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, animal guts export price increased by +26.9% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 50% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($X per ton), while Singapore amounted to $X per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Thailand (+5.3%).

Imports in South-Eastern Asia
In 2022, the amount of guts, bladders and stomachs of animals imported in South-Eastern Asia contracted to X tons, approximately reflecting 2021 figures. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw resilient growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 111%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, animal guts imports reduced to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, showed a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 78%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
Vietnam was the major importer of guts, bladders and stomachs of animals in South-Eastern Asia, with the volume of imports resulting at X tons, which was approx. 47% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Thailand (X tons), the Philippines (X tons), Singapore (X tons) and Malaysia (X tons), together comprising a 49% share of total imports.
Vietnam was also the fastest-growing in terms of the guts, bladders and stomachs of animals imports, with a CAGR of +29.8% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Thailand (+16.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Singapore experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Malaysia (-1.1%) and the Philippines (-2.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Vietnam and Thailand increased by +39 and +9 percentage points, respectively.
In value terms, Vietnam ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported guts, bladders and stomachs of animals in South-Eastern Asia, comprising 53% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the Philippines ($X), with a 22% share of total imports. It was followed by Singapore, with a 10% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Vietnam totaled +39.4%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the Philippines (+16.8% per year) and Singapore (-0.0% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in South-Eastern Asia stood at $X per ton in 2022, reducing by -4.9% against the previous year. Import price indicated a pronounced expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, animal guts import price increased by +26.5% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 33%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Philippines ($X per ton), while Thailand ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Philippines (+19.7%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
