Exports peaked at X tonnes in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2020, exports failed to regain the momentum.

In value terms, cinnamon exports declined significantly to $X in 2020. In general, exports saw a precipitous slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2020, exports remained at a lower figure.

Turkey (X tonnes), South Africa (X tonnes) and the Philippines (X tonnes) were the main destinations of cinnamon exports from Singapore, together comprising X% of total exports. The Dominican Republic, Brunei Darussalam, Malaysia and Fiji lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X 2007 to 2020, the biggest increases were in the Dominican Republic, while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline.

In value terms, South Africa ($X) remains the key foreign market for cinnamon exports from Singapore, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by the Philippines ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by the Dominican Republic, with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to South Africa totaled -X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Philippines (-X% per year) and the Dominican Republic (+X% per year).

Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tonnes in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2020, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
