Market Size for Cotton Lint in the Russian Federation

The revenue of the market for cotton lint in Russia amounted to $X in 2018, rising by X% against the previous year. In value terms, exports of cotton lint stood at $X in 2018. In general, exports of cotton lint, however, continue to indicate a remarkable expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, exports of cotton lint reached their peak figure at $X in 2017, and then declined slightly in the following year.

Exports by Country

Latvia (X tonnes) was the main destination for exports of cotton lint from Russia, with a X% share of total exports. Moreover, exports of cotton lint to Latvia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the Czech Republic (X tonnes), ninefold. Egypt (X tonnes) ranked third in terms of total exports with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2018, the average annual growth rate of volume to Latvia totaled +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Czech Republic (+X% per year) and Egypt (-X% per year).

In value terms, Latvia ($X) remains the key foreign market for cotton lint and cotton seed exports from Russia, comprising X% of total exports of cotton lint. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Egypt ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by the Czech Republic, with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2018, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Latvia amounted to +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Egypt (-X% per year) and the Czech Republic (+X% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2018, the average export price for cotton lint amounted to $X per tonne, surging by X% against the previous year. Overall, the export price for cotton lint continues to indicate a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2012 an increase of X% y-o-y. The export price peaked at $X per tonne in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2018, export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2018, the country with the highest price was Egypt ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Austria ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Czech Republic, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2018, the amount of cotton lint imported into Russia stood at X tonnes, picking up by X% against the previous year. Overall, imports of cotton lint, however, continue to indicate a deep deduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2012 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tonnes in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2018, imports failed to regain their momentum.

In value terms, imports of cotton lint stood at $X in 2018. In general, imports of cotton lint, however, continue to indicate a deep reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2011 when imports increased by X% y-o-y. Imports by Country

Tajikistan (X tonnes), Kyrgyzstan (X tonnes) and Kazakhstan (X tonnes) were the main suppliers of imports of cotton lint to Russia, with a combined X% share of total imports. Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and Turkey lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of imports, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Turkey, while imports for the other leaders experienced a decline.

In value terms, Tajikistan ($X), Kyrgyzstan ($X) and Kazakhstan ($X) were the largest cotton lint and cotton seed suppliers to Russia, together comprising X% of total imports. Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and Turkey lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X terms of the main suppliers, Turkey recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to market size, over the period under review, while imports for the other leaders experienced a decline.

Import Prices by Country

The average import price for cotton lint stood at $X per tonne in 2018, surging by X% against the previous year. In general, the import price indicated a remarkable expansion from 2007 to 2018: its price increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last eleven years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2018 figures, import price for cotton lint increased by +X% against 2015 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2011 an increase of X% y-o-y. In that year, the average import prices for cotton lint attained their peak level of $X per tonne. From 2012 to 2018, the growth in terms of the average import prices for cotton lint remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2018, the highest prices were recorded for prices from Turkey ($X per tonne) and Tajikistan ($X per tonne), while the price for Uzbekistan ($X per tonne) and Turkmenistan ($X per tonne) were amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kyrgyzstan, while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
