China dominates exports structure, reaching X tons, which was approx. 57% of total exports in 2021. Indonesia (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Brazil (X tons), Thailand (X tons), France (X tons) and Vietnam (X tons). All these countries together took near 38% share of total exports.

China was also the fastest-growing in terms of the glutamic acid and its salts exports, with a CAGR of +8.9% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Thailand (+5.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. The following importers - the United States (X tons) and Mexico (X tons) - each accounted for a 3.9% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Myanmar (with a CAGR of +22.1%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Japan ($X), Nigeria ($X) and Vietnam ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 25% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Thailand, Myanmar, Malaysia, India, South Korea, Indonesia, the Philippines, Taiwan (Chinese), the United States and Mexico, which together accounted for a further 44%.

Myanmar, with a CAGR of +19.7%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
