In value terms, woolen yarn exports expanded markedly to $X in 2020. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2011 when exports increased by X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, exports reached the maximum in 2020 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.

The U.S. (X tonnes), Norway (X tonnes) and Sweden (X tonnes) were the main destinations of woolen yarn exports from Peru, with a combined X% share of total exports.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Sweden, while exports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2011 an increase of X% year-to-year. The export price peaked in 2020 and is likely to see steady growth in years to come.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination; the country with the highest price was Hong Kong SAR ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Ireland ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2020, purchases abroad of yarn of wool decreased by -X% to X tonnes for the first time since 2017, thus ending a two-year rising trend. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2009 when imports increased by X% y-o-y. Imports peaked at X tonnes in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2020, imports failed to regain the momentum.

In value terms, woolen yarn imports skyrocketed to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted a slight increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2008 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Imports peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2020, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2020, Bolivia (X tonnes) constituted the largest woolen yarn supplier to Peru, accounting for a X% share of total imports. Moreover, woolen yarn imports from Bolivia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, South Africa (X tonnes), sixfold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by China (X kg), with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of volume from Bolivia totaled +X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: South Africa (-X% per year) and China (-X% per year).
