Phosphate Market Size in Norway

The revenue of the phosphate market in Norway amounted to $X in 2017, falling by -X% against the previous year. Overall, the total market indicated a mild expansion from 2007 to 2017: its value increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last decade. In value terms, Morocco ($X) remains the largest phosphate supplier from Norway, making up X% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Jordan ($X), with a X% share of global exports. It was followed by Russia, with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2017, the average annual growth rate of value in Morocco was relatively modest. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Jordan (+X% per year) and Russia (+X% per year).

Phosphate Export Prices by Country in Norway

In 2017, the phosphate export price in Norway amounted to $X per tonne, therefore, remained relatively stable against by -% against the previous year. Over the period from 2007 to 2017, it decreased at an average annual rate of nan%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2008, an increase of -% year-to-year.

Export prices varied noticeably by the country of destination; the country with the highest export price was Algeria ($X per tonne), while Peru ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2017, the most notable rate of growth in terms of export prices was attained by China (+X% per year), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Phosphate Imports into Norway

In 2017, the amount of natural phosphates (p2o5 content) imported into Norway totaled X tonnes, declining by -X% against the previous year. Overall, phosphate imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013, when it surged by X% against the previous year. In that year, the phosphate imports reached their peak volume of X tonnes. From 2014 to 2017, growth of the phosphate imports stood at a somewhat lower level.

In value terms, phosphate imports stood at $X in 2017. Overall, phosphate imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the phosphate imports reached its maximum level of $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2017, it stood at a somewhat lower level.

Phosphate Imports by Country into Norway

In 2017, India (X tonnes), distantly followed by South Korea (X tonnes), Indonesia (X tonnes), the U.S. (X tonnes), Lithuania (X tonnes) and Brazil (X tonnes) represented the main importers of natural phosphates (p2o5 content), together constituting X% of total imports. Belgium (X tonnes), Mexico (X tonnes), Poland (X tonnes), Turkey (X tonnes), Belarus (X tonnes) and New Zealand (X tonnes) took the slight share of total imports.

Imports into India increased at an average annual rate of +X% from 2007 to 2017. At the same time, Indonesia (+X%), the U.S. (+X%), Turkey (+X%), Mexico (+X%), Belarus (+X%), Lithuania (+X%) and Brazil (+X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Indonesia emerged as the fastest growing importer in the world, with a CAGR of +X% from 2007-2017. Belgium experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, New Zealand (-X%), Poland (-X%) and South Korea (-X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. South Korea (X%) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the global imports, while Lithuania, Mexico, the U.S., Indonesia and India saw its share reduced by -X%, -X%, -X%, -X% and -X% from 2007 to 2017, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

There were significant differences in the average import prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2017, the country with the highest import price was India ($X per tonne), while South Korea ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.
