Mercury Market Size in the Netherlands
After four years of growth, the Dutch mercury market decreased by -X% to $X in 2021. Overall, consumption, however, showed a noticeable increase. Over the period under review, the market hit record highs at $X in 2020, and then contracted in the following year.

As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tonnes. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, mercury exports soared to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a dramatic setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by X%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
France (X kg), Luxembourg (X kg) and Belgium (X kg) were the main destinations of mercury exports from the Netherlands, with a combined X% share of total exports. Germany and Cyprus lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Cyprus (with a CAGR of +X%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for mercury exported from the Netherlands were France ($X), Belgium ($X) and Luxembourg ($X), with a combined X% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Germany and Cyprus, which together accounted for a further X the main countries of destination, Cyprus, with a CAGR of +X%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The average mercury export price stood at $X per tonne in 2021, increasing by X% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate resilient growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 an increase of X%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to France ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Cyprus (+X%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into the Netherlands
Mercury imports into the Netherlands soared to X tonnes in 2021, picking up by X% on the year before. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a sharp reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tonnes in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, mercury imports expanded sharply to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, saw a precipitous decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

France (X tonnes), Belgium (X tonnes) and Germany (X tonnes) were the main suppliers of mercury imports to the Netherlands.
