Cassava Market Size in MERCOSUR

In 2023, the average yield of cassava in MERCOSUR expanded slightly to X tons per ha, surging by X% compared with 2022. The yield figure increased at an average annual rate of X% over the period from 2012 to 2023; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations in certain years. From 2020 to 2023, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

For the third consecutive year, MERCOSUR recorded growth in overseas purchases of cassava, which increased by X% to X tons in 2023. Overall, imports, however, recorded a deep contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by X%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2017 to 2023, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, cassava imports shrank to $X in 2023. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2022, and then dropped in the following year.

Imports by Country

Chile prevails in imports structure, finishing at X tons, which was near X% of total imports in 2023. The following importers - Peru (X tons) and Colombia (X tons) - each finished at a X% share of total imports.

Chile was also the fastest-growing in terms of the cassava imports, with a CAGR of X% from 2012 to 2023. At the same time, Peru (X%) displayed positive paces of growth.
