Turkey prevails in exports structure, amounting to X tons, which was near 95% of total exports in 2021. Saudi Arabia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Turkey was also the fastest-growing in terms of the vulcanised rubber thread and cord exports, with a CAGR of +18.5% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Saudi Arabia (+10.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. While the share of Turkey (+22 p.p.) increased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest vulcanised rubber thread supplier in MENA, comprising 97% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Saudi Arabia ($X), with a 1% share of total exports.

In 2021, the export price in MENA amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 31% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a slight reduction. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per ton), while Saudi Arabia totaled $X per ton.

The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 38% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2020, and then contracted in the following year.
In value terms, vulcanised rubber thread imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a moderate expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +85.5% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 24% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Turkey (X tons) and Iran (X tons) represented roughly 60% of total imports in 2021. Egypt (X tons) took the next position in the ranking, followed by the United Arab Emirates (X tons), Algeria (X tons), Morocco (X tons) and Tunisia (X tons). All these countries together took approx. 31% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Algeria (with a CAGR of +14.6%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest vulcanised rubber thread importing markets in MENA were Turkey ($X), Iran ($X) and the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a combined 65% share of total imports. Algeria, Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 24%.
Among the main importing countries, Algeria, with a CAGR of +21.9%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in MENA amounted to $X per ton, surging by 24% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Algeria ($X per ton), while Tunisia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
