From 2019 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, vulcanised rubber thread exports contracted dramatically to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, enjoyed measured growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by 811%. The exports peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Turkey (X tons) was the main destination for vulcanised rubber thread exports from Egypt, accounting for a 56% share of total exports. Moreover, vulcanised rubber thread exports to Turkey exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Saudi Arabia (X kg), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Israel (X kg), with a 16% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Turkey stood at +48.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Saudi Arabia (+45.9% per year) and Israel (+47.0% per year).
In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the key foreign market for vulcanised rubber thread and cord exports from Egypt, comprising 77% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Saudi Arabia ($X), with a 5.2% share of total exports. It was followed by Israel, with a 4% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Turkey amounted to +48.5%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Saudi Arabia (+45.6% per year) and Israel (+36.8% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the average vulcanised rubber thread export price amounted to $X per ton, jumping by 57% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a noticeable slump. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Jordan ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Israel ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Jordan (+11.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Vulcanised Rubber Thread Imports
Imports into Egypt
Vulcanised rubber thread imports into Egypt rose slightly to X tons in 2021, increasing by 3.1% on 2020 figures. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 478%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, vulcanised rubber thread imports surged to $X in 2021. In general, imports recorded a prominent expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 336% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
Singapore (X tons), Malaysia (X tons) and Thailand (X tons) were the main suppliers of vulcanised rubber thread imports to Egypt, together comprising 19% of total imports. Luxembourg, France and China lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 2.4%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for France (with a CAGR of +87.5%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Malaysia ($X) constituted the largest supplier of vulcanised rubber thread and cord to Egypt, comprising 7.6% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Singapore ($X), with a 2.1% share of total imports. It was followed by France, with a 1.8% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Malaysia totaled +16.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Singapore (-11.7% per year) and France (+85.2% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average vulcanised rubber thread import price amounted to $X per ton, rising by 33% against the previous year. In general, the import price enjoyed notable growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 an increase of 100% against the previous year. The import price peaked in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while the price for Luxembourg ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+26.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
