Total exports indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.7% over the last nine-year period. The United Arab Emirates (X tons) held a 16% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Tunisia (16%), Oman (6.5%) and Iran (5.3%). The following exporters - Israel (X tons) and Lebanon (X tons) - each amounted to a 4.4% share of total exports.

Exports from Turkey increased at an average annual rate of +5.8% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Oman (+77.8%), Israel (+25.2%), Iran (+12.4%), Lebanon (+10.6%) and Tunisia (+5.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Oman emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MENA, with a CAGR of +77.8% from 2012-2021. By contrast, the United Arab Emirates (-1.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Oman (+6.4 p.p.), Turkey (+2.4 p.p.), Iran (+2.4 p.p.) and Israel (+1.8 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the United Arab Emirates saw its share reduced by -11.9% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest gym and fitness equipment supplier in MENA, comprising 54% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with an 18% share of total exports. It was followed by Tunisia, with an 11% share.

In Turkey, gym and fitness equipment exports expanded at an average annual rate of +6.8% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United Arab Emirates (+6.1% per year) and Tunisia (+9.9% per year).

Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
