Rwanda (X tons) was the main destination for quicklime exports from Kenya, with a 98% share of total exports. It was followed by Uganda (X tons), with a 1.8% share of total exports. The third position in this ranking was taken by Democratic Republic of the Congo (X tons), with a 0.2% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Rwanda totaled +81.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Uganda (+2.8% per year) and Democratic Republic of the Congo (-18.0% per year).

In 2022, the average quicklime export price amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 3.8% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a noticeable contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the average export price increased by 14% against the previous year. After six years of growth, supplies from abroad of quicklime decreased by -25.9% to X tons in 2022. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 468% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2021, and then reduced notably in the following year.
