In 2021, purchases abroad of pyrites increased by X% to X tonnes, rising for the fifth consecutive year after three years of decline. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tonnes in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, pyrites imports dropped dramatically to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, recorded a deep reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Italy (X tonnes), Turkey (X tonnes) and Russia (X tonnes) were the main suppliers of pyrites imports to Germany, with a combined X% share of total imports.
