The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the Netherlands ($X) remains the largest boron oxide and boric acid supplier in the European Union, comprising 52% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Germany ($X), with an 11% share of total exports. It was followed by Latvia, with a 9.8% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in the Netherlands totaled +39.8%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Germany (+11.7% per year) and Latvia (+66.7% per year).

In 2021, the export price in the European Union amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 10% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, saw a pronounced decrease. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, purchases abroad of oxides of boron and boric acids increased by 15% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 33%. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in the near future.
