In 2021, the Netherlands (X tons), distantly followed by Italy (X tons), Portugal (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the key exporters of polishes and creams for wooden furniture and floors, together achieving 79% of total exports. Hungary (X tons), Denmark (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons), Spain (X tons), Belgium (X tons), Poland (X tons) and France (X tons) took a relatively small share of total exports.

Based on 2021 figures, wooden furniture treatments export price increased by +22.5% against 2017 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when the export price increased by 32% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton, leveling off in the following year.

Overall, imports, however, recorded a slight decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when imports increased by 17%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, wooden furniture treatments imports soared to $X in 2021. In general, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 28%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, France (X tons), distantly followed by Poland (X tons), Italy (X tons), Spain (X tons), Germany (X tons), Romania (X tons), Belgium (X tons) and Portugal (X tons) represented the key importers of polishes and creams for wooden furniture and floors, together making up 79% of total imports. Austria (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons), Slovakia (X tons), Hungary (X tons) and Greece (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

The import price in the European Union stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 13% against the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.4%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 20% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while France ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
