In value terms, roasted coffee exports surged to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, saw a deep reduction. The level of export peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Burkina Faso was the largest exporter of roasted coffee in ECOWAS, with the volume of exports finishing at X tons, which was near X% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Guinea (X tons), mixing up an X% share of total exports. Senegal (X tons), Togo (X tons) and Ghana (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Burkina Faso was also the fastest-growing in terms of the roasted coffee exports, with a CAGR of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Senegal (X%) and Ghana (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Guinea (X%) and Togo (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Burkina Faso and Senegal increased by X and X percentage points, respectively. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by X% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.

In value terms, roasted coffee imports reduced dramatically to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted strong growth. Senegal (X tons) and Burkina Faso (X tons) were the largest importers of roasted coffee in 2022, accounting for approx. X% and X% of total imports, respectively. Cote d'Ivoire (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total imports with a X% share, followed by Nigeria (X%) and Mali (X%). The following importers - Ghana (X tons) and Cabo Verde (X tons) - each amounted to an X% share of total imports.
