The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked in 2023 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, frozen, dried and smoked fish exports expanded to $X in 2023. Overall, exports, however, recorded a mild descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2023, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

In 2023, Senegal (X tons) represented the key exporter of frozen, dried and smoked fish, mixing up X% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Guinea (X tons), Ghana (X tons) and Guinea-Bissau (X tons), together committing a X% share of total exports. Sierra Leone (X tons) and Cabo Verde (X tons) held a minor share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2023, average annual rates of growth with regard to frozen, dried and smoked fish exports from Senegal stood at X%. At the same time, Cabo Verde (X%), Sierra Leone (X%), Guinea-Bissau (X%), Ghana (X%) and Guinea (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2023 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
