Exports of Frozen, Dried And Smoked Fish

In 2022, shipments abroad of frozen, dried and smoked fish was finally on the rise to reach X tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, frozen, dried and smoked fish exports rose slightly to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by X%. The exports peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Cote d'Ivoire (X tons), the United Arab Emirates (X tons) and Spain (X tons) were the main destinations of frozen, dried and smoked fish exports from Ghana, with a combined X% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Cote d'Ivoire (with a CAGR of X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Portugal ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Cote d'Ivoire ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Togo (X%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Ghana

In 2022, after two years of decline, there was growth in supplies from abroad of frozen, dried and smoked fish, when their volume increased by X% to X tons. In general, imports recorded a noticeable expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, frozen, dried and smoked fish imports contracted slightly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports posted a pronounced increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Mauritania (X tons), Chile (X tons) and South Korea (X tons) were the main suppliers of frozen, dried and smoked fish imports to Ghana, together comprising X% of total imports.
