Guyana (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 6.2% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to the United States totaled +9.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: El Salvador (+12.7% per year) and Guyana (+84.8% per year).
In value terms, the United States ($X) remains the key foreign market for carbonate exports from the Dominican Republic, comprising 52% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by El Salvador ($X), with a 14% share of total exports. It was followed by Guatemala, with a 7.2% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to the United States was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: El Salvador (+54.6% per year) and Guatemala (+28.5% per year).

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +85.3% against 2016 indices. From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Russia stood at +17.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the UK (+31.3% per year) and Turkey (+15.8% per year).

In 2021, the average carbonate import price amounted to $X per ton, rising by 5.8% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.2%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when the average import price increased by 14% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2020 to 2021, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the price for Spain ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
