Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, ethylene polymer bag exports totaled $X in 2022. Total exports indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +104.2% against 2015 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 27% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

In 2022, Russia (X tons) was the main exporter of sacks and bags of polymers of ethylene, constituting 64% of total exports. Belarus (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 26% share, followed by Azerbaijan (5.6%). Uzbekistan (X tons) held a relatively small share of total exports.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 27% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belarus ($X per ton), while Azerbaijan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belarus (+7.8%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

In 2022, overseas purchases of sacks and bags of polymers of ethylene increased by 21% to X tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.2% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 21% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, Kazakhstan (X tons) was the largest importer of sacks and bags of polymers of ethylene, constituting 44% of total imports. Russia (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 26% share, followed by Kyrgyzstan (13%), Belarus (5.7%) and Azerbaijan (5.4%). The following importers - Armenia (X tons) and Moldova (X tons) - together made up 4.9% of total imports.

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the import price increased by 8.9% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Belarus ($X per ton), while Kazakhstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
