In general, consumption, however, recorded a strong expansion. Over the period under review, the market reached the peak level at $X in 2020, and then reduced in the following year.

In value terms, hormones, prostaglandins, thromboxanes and leukotrienes production expanded modestly to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production, however, enjoyed a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 45%. Over the period under review, production hit record highs at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, production stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, the amount of hormones, prostaglandins, thromboxanes and leukotrienes exported in Central Asia skyrocketed to X tons, picking up by 84% against 2020. Overall, exports saw significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of 399%. The volume of export peaked in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, hormones, prostaglandins, thromboxanes and leukotrienes exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, exports posted a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by 1,006%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

The shipments of the one major exporters of hormones, prostaglandins, thromboxanes and leukotrienes, namely Kyrgyzstan, represented more than two-thirds of total export.

Kyrgyzstan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the hormones, prostaglandins, thromboxanes and leukotrienes exports, with a CAGR of +69.5% from 2012 to 2021. The shares of the largest exporters remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Kyrgyzstan ($X) also remains the largest hormones, prostaglandins, thromboxanes and leukotrienes supplier in Central Asia.

In Kyrgyzstan, hormones, prostaglandins, thromboxanes and leukotrienes exports expanded at an average annual rate of +85.9% over the period from 2012-2021.

In 2021, the export price in Central Asia amounted to $X per kg, waning by -25.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, posted a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 226%. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per kg in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Kyrgyzstan.

Imports in Central Asia

In 2021, after six years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of hormones, prostaglandins, thromboxanes and leukotrienes, when their volume decreased by -69.1% to X tons. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 377%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons, and then dropped dramatically in the following year.

In value terms, hormones, prostaglandins, thromboxanes and leukotrienes imports fell markedly to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 435%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2020, and then declined dramatically in the following year.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Uzbekistan (X kg) represented the key importer of hormones, prostaglandins, thromboxanes and leukotrienes, achieving 86% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Kazakhstan (X kg), committing a 14% share of total imports.

Uzbekistan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the hormones, prostaglandins, thromboxanes and leukotrienes imports, with a CAGR of +38.7% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Kazakhstan (+3.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Uzbekistan (+86 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Kazakhstan saw its share reduced by -62.5% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.

In value terms, Uzbekistan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported hormones, prostaglandins, thromboxanes and leukotrienes in Central Asia, comprising 89% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 9.8% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Uzbekistan totaled +27.8%.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Central Asia stood at $X per kg in 2021, declining by -17.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a measured expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the import price increased by 127% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per kg in 2020, and then shrank significantly in the following year.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per kg), while Kazakhstan stood at $X per kg.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kazakhstan (+2.2%).
