The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by X% y-o-y. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tonnes, and then contracted in the following year.
In value terms, blueberry and cranberry exports shrank to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, posted a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of X% y-o-y. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then reduced in the following year.
Exports by Country
The Netherlands (X tonnes), Russia (X tonnes) and Finland (X tonnes) were the main destinations of blueberry and cranberry exports from Belgium, with a combined X% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Luxembourg, Norway, Lithuania, France, Latvia, Ireland and Germany, which together accounted for a further X 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Latvia (+X%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for blueberry and cranberry exported from Belgium were Russia ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and Finland ($X), together comprising X% of total exports. Luxembourg, Norway, Lithuania, Latvia, Ireland, Germany and France lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X, with a CAGR of +X%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average blueberry and cranberry export price stood at $X per tonne in 2021, surging by X% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, saw a pronounced descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average export price increased by X% y-o-y. The export price peaked at $X per tonne in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Finland ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to France ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Luxembourg (+X%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Belgium
After five years of growth, supplies from abroad of blueberries and cranberries decreased by -X% to X tonnes in 2021. In general, imports, however, enjoyed buoyant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by X% year-to-year. Imports peaked at X tonnes in 2020, and then fell modestly in the following year.
In value terms, blueberry and cranberry imports amounted to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a strong expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
In 2021, the Netherlands (X tonnes) constituted the largest supplier of blueberry and cranberry to Belgium, with a X% share of total imports. Moreover, blueberry and cranberry imports from the Netherlands exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Spain (X tonnes), twofold. Peru (X tonnes) ranked third in terms of total imports with a X% share.
