The Asia-Pacific dolomite market amounted to $X in 2021, growing by 7.6% against the previous year. The market value increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons, and then shrank markedly in the following year.

In value terms, dolomite exports contracted significantly to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, saw a noticeable increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 49% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, and then fell notably in the following year.

Exports by Country

The shipments of the three major exporters of dolomite, namely China, Thailand and the Philippines, represented more than two-thirds of total export. It was distantly followed by South Korea (X tons), achieving a 6.8% share of total exports. India (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by India (with a CAGR of +16.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, China ($X) emerged as the largest dolomite supplier in Asia-Pacific, comprising 42% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Thailand ($X), with an 18% share of total exports. It was followed by South Korea, with a 13% share.

In China, dolomite exports expanded at an average annual rate of +2.4% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Thailand (-0.0% per year) and South Korea (+12.5% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in Asia-Pacific amounted to $X per ton, growing by 33% against the previous year. Export price indicated a measured increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.4% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, dolomite export price decreased by -12.7% against 2019 indices. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was India ($X per ton), while the Philippines ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Imports in Asia-Pacific

In 2021, imports of dolomite in Asia-Pacific surged to X tons, increasing by 25% compared with 2020 figures. Total imports indicated a notable increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.4% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -1.7% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 57%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, dolomite imports surged to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a mild expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.2% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

India represented the largest importing country with an import of around X tons, which amounted to 51% of total imports. Japan (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 26% share, followed by Taiwan (Chinese) (9.9%), Indonesia (4.9%) and China (4.7%).

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Indonesia (with a CAGR of +89.0%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest dolomite importing markets in Asia-Pacific were China ($X), India ($X) and Japan ($X), together accounting for 85% of total imports. These countries were followed by Taiwan (Chinese) and Indonesia, which together accounted for a further 8.3%.

Indonesia, with a CAGR of +68.5%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the import price in Asia-Pacific amounted to $X per ton, surging by 16% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a perceptible slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when the import price increased by 24% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was China ($X per ton), while India ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
