Dolomite Exports

Exports

Global dolomite exports dropped to X tons in 2021, waning by -8.2% compared with 2020. Overall, total exports indicated a measured expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +66.0% against 2016 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 41%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons, and then contracted in the following year.

In value terms, dolomite exports rose rapidly to $X in 2021. In general, total exports indicated a measured increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.4% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +90.2% against 2016 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 25% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the global exports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Exports by Country

In 2021, the United Arab Emirates (X tons), Canada (X tons), China (X tons), Thailand (X tons), Belgium (X tons), the Philippines (X tons) and Slovakia (X tons) was the largest exporter of dolomite in the world, committing 77% of total export. The following exporters - Spain (X tons), Norway (X tons), Germany (X tons), South Korea (X tons), Brazil (X tons) and Burkina Faso (X tons) - together made up 15% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Burkina Faso (with a CAGR of +30.8%), while shipments for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest dolomite supplying countries worldwide were the United Arab Emirates ($X), China ($X) and Norway ($X), with a combined 37% share of global exports. These countries were followed by Belgium, Canada, Thailand, Spain, Slovakia, Germany, South Korea, the Philippines, Brazil and Burkina Faso, which together accounted for a further 39%.

In terms of the main exporting countries, Spain, with a CAGR of +13.2%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The average dolomite export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 21% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.5%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Norway ($X per ton), while the Philippines ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Philippines (+2.7%), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 31%. Global imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, dolomite imports soared to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

India represented the largest importer of dolomite in the world, with the volume of imports amounting to X tons, which was near 31% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Japan (X tons), the United States (X tons) and Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons), together committing a 34% share of total imports. From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Indonesia (with a CAGR of +89.0%), while imports for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest dolomite importing markets worldwide were China ($X), India ($X) and Japan ($X), with a combined 60% share of global imports. The Netherlands, Taiwan (Chinese), the United States, Germany, Indonesia, Ukraine, Brazil, Paraguay and the Czech Republic lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 21%.

Indonesia, with a CAGR of +68.5%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average dolomite import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 14% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a perceptible setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 15% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was China ($X per ton), while the United States ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
