Production By Country in Asia
The countries with the highest volumes of canned pineapple production in 2021 were Thailand (X tonnes), Indonesia (X tonnes) and the Philippines (X tonnes), together accounting for X% of total production. These countries were followed by China, India, Malaysia and Vietnam, which together accounted for a further X 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Vietnam (+X%), while canned pineapple production for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, overseas shipments of canned pineapples increased by X% to X tonnes, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a slight contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tonnes in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, canned pineapple exports rose notably to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of X% y-o-y. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
The shipments of the three major exporters of canned pineapples, namely Thailand, the Philippines and Indonesia, represented more than two-thirds of total export. Vietnam (X tonnes) held a minor share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by the Philippines (+X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Thailand ($X), the Philippines ($X) and Indonesia ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, with a combined X% share of total exports.
The Philippines, with a CAGR of +X%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the canned pineapple export price in Asia amounted to $X per tonne, approximately equating the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +X%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of X% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, major exporting countries recorded the following prices: in Thailand ($X per tonne) and the Philippines ($X per tonne), while Vietnam ($X per tonne) and Indonesia ($X per tonne) were amongst the lowest.

In 2021, after three years of decline, there was significant growth in purchases abroad of canned pineapples, when their volume increased by X% to X tonnes. In general, imports, however, saw a slight curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tonnes. From 2018 to 2021, the growth imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, canned pineapple imports fell slightly to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2021, the growth imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
China (X tonnes) and Japan (X tonnes) represented roughly X% of total imports of canned pineapples in 2021. It was distantly followed by South Korea (X tonnes), the United Arab Emirates (X tonnes), Singapore (X tonnes) and Iran (X tonnes), together comprising a X% share of total imports. The following importers - Yemen (X tonnes), Taiwan (Chinese) (X tonnes), Israel (X tonnes), Hong Kong SAR (X tonnes), Saudi Arabia (X tonnes) and Malaysia (X tonnes) - together made up X% of total imports.

Import Prices by Country
The canned pineapple import price in Asia stood at $X per tonne in 2021, dropping by -X% against the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +X%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per tonne, and then reduced in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per tonne), while Yemen ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Taiwan (Chinese) (+X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
