In 2021, supplies from abroad of slaked lime was finally on the rise to reach X tons after two years of decline. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a perceptible contraction. Imports peaked at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, slaked lime imports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a pronounced increase. Imports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, Brazil (X tons) constituted the largest slaked lime supplier to Angola, accounting for a 33% share of total imports. Moreover, slaked lime imports from Brazil exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the Netherlands (X tons), fourfold. Belgium (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 7% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from Brazil stood at +5.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Netherlands (+2.4% per year) and Belgium (-11.2% per year).

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 85%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2020, and then dropped in the following year.
