South Africa was the largest exporting country with an export of about X square meters, which accounted for X% of total exports. Namibia (X square meters) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Rwanda (X square meters). All these countries together held near X% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2023, average annual rates of growth with regard to textile wall covering exports from South Africa stood at X%. At the same time, Rwanda (X%) and Namibia (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Rwanda emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Africa, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2023. While the share of South Africa (X p.p.), Namibia (X p.p.) and Rwanda (X p.p.) increased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, South Africa ($X) remains the largest textile wall covering supplier in Africa, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Namibia ($X), with a X% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2023, the average annual growth rate of value in South Africa amounted to X%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Namibia (X% per year) and Rwanda (X% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2023, the export price in Africa amounted to $X per square meter, rising by X% against the previous year. In general, the export price posted a resilient expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when the export price increased by X%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per square meter. From 2020 to 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2023, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was South Africa ($X per square meter), while Namibia ($X per square meter) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Africa (X%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in Africa

For the fourth consecutive year, Africa recorded growth in supplies from abroad of textile wall coverings, which increased by X% to X square meters in 2023. Over the period under review, imports posted pronounced growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X square meters. From 2016 to 2023, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, textile wall covering imports surged to $X in 2023. Overall, imports posted strong growth. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

Morocco was the largest importer of textile wall coverings in Africa, with the volume of imports resulting at X square meters, which was approx. X% of total imports in 2023. Tunisia (X square meters) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Egypt (X square meters), Ethiopia (X square meters), Nigeria (X square meters) and South Africa (X square meters). All these countries together took approx. X% share of total imports. Algeria (X square meters) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2023, average annual rates of growth with regard to textile wall covering imports into Morocco stood at X%. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
