Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
In 2022, Egypt (X tons) represented the main exporter of nonwoven fabrics, mixing up X% of total exports. It was distantly followed by South Africa (X tons) and Morocco (X tons), together generating a X% share of total exports. Tunisia (X tons) took a relatively small share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to nonwoven fabric exports from Egypt stood at X%. At the same time, Morocco (X%) and Tunisia (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Morocco emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Africa, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. South Africa experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. For the third year in a row, Africa recorded growth in purchases abroad of nonwoven fabrics, which increased by X% to X tons in 2022. Total imports indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by X% against 2012 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, Algeria ($X), Nigeria ($X) and Morocco ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined X% share of total imports. South Africa, Egypt, Tunisia, Ghana, Angola, Kenya, Ethiopia, Cote d'Ivoire and Senegal lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X%.
In terms of the main importing countries, Cote d'Ivoire, with a CAGR of X%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the import price in Africa amounted to $X per ton, dropping by X% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a slight slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the import price increased by X% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Tunisia ($X per ton), while Nigeria ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
