The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the production volume increased by X%. As a result, production attained the peak level of $X, and then declined in the following year.
Production By Country
China (X tonnes) remains the largest nonwoven fabric producing country worldwide, comprising approx. X% of total volume. Moreover, nonwoven fabric production in China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest producer, the United States (X tonnes), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by Germany (X tonnes), with a X% share.
In China, nonwoven fabric production expanded at an average annual rate of +X% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining producing countries recorded the following average annual rates of production growth: the United States (-X% per year) and Germany (+X% per year).

For the tenth year in a row, the global market recorded growth in overseas shipments of nonwoven fabrics, which increased by X% to X tonnes in 2021. Over the period under review, total exports indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +X% against 2012 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The global exports peaked in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
In value terms, nonwoven fabric exports rose significantly to $X in 2021. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by X%. The global exports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
Exports by Country
In 2021, China (X tonnes) was the main exporter of nonwoven fabrics, making up X% of total exports. Germany (X tonnes) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Italy (X tonnes), the United States (X tonnes) and Turkey (X tonnes). All these countries together took approx. X% share of total exports. The following exporters - the Czech Republic (X tonnes), France (X tonnes), Spain (X tonnes), India (X tonnes), Poland (X tonnes), Thailand (X tonnes), the Netherlands (X tonnes) and Malaysia (X tonnes) - together made up X% of total exports.
Exports from China increased at an average annual rate of +X% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, India (+X%), Poland (+X%), Turkey (+X%), Thailand (+X%), Malaysia (+X%), the Netherlands (+X%), the Czech Republic (+X%), Italy (+X%), Germany (+X%) and Spain (+X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, India emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +X% from 2012-2021. France experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, the United States (-X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. China (+X p.p.), Turkey (+X p.p.) and India (+X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the global exports, while France, Italy, Germany and the United States saw its share reduced by -X%, -X%, -X% and -X% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest nonwoven fabric supplier worldwide, comprising X% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Germany ($X), with a X% share of global exports. It was followed by the United States, with a X% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in China totaled +X%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Germany (+X% per year) and the United States (+X% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the average nonwoven fabric export price amounted to $X per tonne, rising by X% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $X per tonne in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per tonne), while India ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+X%), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

For the tenth consecutive year, the global market recorded growth in purchases abroad of nonwoven fabrics, which increased by X% to X tonnes in 2021. In general, total imports indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +X% against 2012 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, global imports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

Imports by Country
In 2021, the United States (X tonnes), distantly followed by Germany (X tonnes) and Japan (X tonnes) were the largest importers of nonwoven fabrics, together creating X% of total imports. Poland (X tonnes), China (X tonnes), Canada (X tonnes), the UK (X tonnes), France (X tonnes), the Netherlands (X tonnes), South Korea (X tonnes), Vietnam (X tonnes), Italy (X tonnes) and Mexico (X tonnes) took a minor share of total imports.
The United States was also the fastest-growing in terms of the nonwoven fabrics imports, with a CAGR of +X% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, South Korea (+X%), Vietnam (+X%), Japan (+X%), Canada (+X%), Italy (+X%), Poland (+X%), the Netherlands (+X%), Germany (+X%), France (+X%), China (+X%), Mexico (+X%) and the UK (+X%) displayed positive paces of growth. While the share of the United States (+X p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the global imports from 2012-2021, the share of the UK (-X p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the United States ($X), Germany ($X) and China ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined X% share of global imports. Japan, Poland, Italy, Vietnam, Canada, the UK, France, Mexico, South Korea and the Netherlands lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X the main importing countries, Vietnam, with a CAGR of +X%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average nonwoven fabric import price amounted to $X per tonne, rising by X% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a mild decline. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per tonne in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was China ($X per tonne), while the United States ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.
